Movie Review # 436: Furious 7 (2015)

Good evening ladies & gentlemen! Tonight, we are going to be talking about the seventh installment of the Fast & The Furious movie franchise. Man, can you believe that they’ve come out with eight, soon to be nine films over the past nearly twenty years? Man, does time fly! Oh, and it should be well noted that this sequel is significant for this one being Paul’s last Fast & The Furious film to be in, since he died in a car crash just a couple years before this film was released. Well, presenting my review for Furious 7!

Plot: After a Nigerian terrorist named Mose Jakande (Djimon Hounsou) attacks the home of Brian (Paul Walker), Mia (Jordana Brewster), and their son, in an attempt to kill them, Paul, along with Dom (Vin Diesel), and the rest of the car gang must team up with a hacker named Ramsey (Nathalie Emmanuel), who created a hacking device called God’s Eye, to track down Jakande, and his thugs, and retrieve back God’s Eye once and for all.

Okay, first of all, even though this film is not quite perfect, Furious 7 is a mostly very well done film. First of all, the stunts that they pull are extremely cool? Could one go so far as to say that they would all be realistic this time around? Hmmmm! You got me! It might be safe to say maybe not quite 100%. Still, there’s no denying how cool they are. Additionally, the cinematography of places like Abu Dhabi, and Azerbaijan is really excellent. Once again, we have Mission Impossible like moments when it comes to being in areas like these. Oh, and let’s not forget all the cool loved, jumps, and whatever else occurs during the climax. But possibly more on that a little later! Another bonus to this film is that the characters get really well developed this time around. This especially seems to be the case with the relationships of Dom, and Letty, as well as Brian, and Mia to a degree as well. Still, this especially seems true with the former couple, due to there being the subplot of Dom trying to help Letty overcome her amnesia by helping her remember what her life was like, and their relationship, and things like that. Oh, and for this being Paul Walker’s last role before his death a couple years prior to this film’s release, he did a really, really great job as Brian O’ Connor. Obviously the same can be said for Vin Diesel as Dom Toretto, Dwayne Johnson as Luke Hobbs, you name it! Still, it’s worth giving more credit to Paul Walker, since he passed away before this film was released. Oh, and it’s great that the end credits dedicates this film to the late actor. In addition to all of this, it should be worth noting that Furious 7 could most potentially have the feel of the show 24, specifically the seventh season of that show. The only difference would be that while the sixth season of 24 seemed to end more on a depressing note, while the seventh one was just bittersweet, let’s just say that people may like the endings of Fast & The Furious 6, and 7 a little more than the endings of 24 seasons 6, and 7 combined. Finally, there were some really interesting twists that occurred throughout this film, especially one that occurs around the middle to end of this film. The only thing that one could say may not exactly be bad, but at least strange, would be that there were one, or two points that may have seemed a little hokey in this film. Strange for an action film, yes? But hey, at least that’s the only possible downside to this film.

And that’s my review for Furious 7. Honestly, it goes without saying that maybe having this, and the more recent sequels of this franchise being around 120 minutes, or more, shows that the longer these films are, the most well done that they’ve seemed to be for the most part. It’s also nice that the end of this film is dedicated to one of the stars of this film. Definitely make it a point to see Furious 7, if you haven’t! Once again, you’ll most likely love it.

I like going to movies, bike riding, swimming, and other fun activities along the way. I’m down for trying new activities, go to new places, and other things too. So yeah!
