Well everyone, here we go again! We are nearing the end of the journey through the Fast & The Furious franchise before the ninth film gets released at the end of this month. So yeah, including that film, only three more reviews of this franchise to go. That is until possibly there being a tenth film, unless the movie makers decide to conclude at the ninth film. I guess we’ll see. Anyway, here’s my review for Fast & The Furious 6 (aka Furious 6).
Plot: After Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel), Brian O’ Connor (Paul Walker), and the crew succeed in their heist in Brazil, they are now scattered around the world, living happy lives. But one day, after Dom discovers that Letty is still alive, DSS agent Luke Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson) agrees to give amnesty to Dom, and the crew, as well as return to the US, if they can help take down a terrorist named Owen Shaw, and his thugs once and for all. Seeing as Letty, after losing her memory in the fifth film, is working with them, can Dom also find Letty, and help her remember who she was before?
I’m not sure what happened from the early 2000s, and well into the 2010s. However, I will say that even if not all of them have gotten perfection, the Fast & The Furious movies have begun to feel better overtime. This sixth film is no exception. First of all, the sixth movie almost feels like Fast & The Furious, combined with elements from the Mission Impossible films, most notably ones like Mission Impossible 4, and some of the ones that came out after it. Well, if you have enjoyed the Mission Impossible films, especially 4, and afterwards, it’s guaranteed that you’ll like, maybe even love Fast & The Furious 6. The movie also happens to be an emotional roller coaster ride at points as well. Okay, I’m not just saying that because of the action, and things like that. I’m also saying that because of how this movie shows that there may be times in our lives, when we may think that we have let certain people go. Yet, deep down, if the thought of those people come back, or they resurface in our lives for sone reason, we may seem to realize that maybe deep down, some of us may not have let those people fully go after all. I’m sure many of us can relate to scenarios like that, yes? The movie also does a really good job of showing how life can be full of twists, and turns in each of our lives, and that, no matter how easy, or difficult it may be, we may have to accept certain difficult circumstances, you know? Additionally, a lot of the action scenes were creatively choreographed. As cliche as that may, or may not sound, believe me when I say that you’d be surprised by the stunts that are performed. This is is especially true when it comes to scenes like the climax. I won’t give away what happens for those of you who have yet to see this film. Let me just say, however, that it is rather interesting. Still, it seemed as if the climax seemed to drag at least by a little bit. Not to mention that there were certain aspects of the climax that seemed to make the film feel a little depressing as well. Okay, maybe not too depressing, but at least to a degree. The acting was also really good. Truth be told, people like Luke Evans may have done a better job here than in roles like Gaston in the Beauty & The Beast remake, or even Bard in the second, and third Hobbit films.
And that’s my review for Furious 6. If you want to see a sequel that helps a movie franchise progress for the better, then all the more reason to see this film. The acting is top notch, the movie provides very good lessons, and you seem to feel for the characters more this time. If you like criteria such as these, then definitely check this sequel out, and see what you think!
Final Grade: A-
